Mina Thaler – The main character of the first entry in the Community Archives

It is with great pride that we present our first archive collection in a project on zbioryspołeczne.pl! Mina Thaler, shown in the photo, is the first heroine whose story has been archived there. We invite you to take a look at the contents.

Mina Thaler (née Schwimmer) – if you tried to describe her by the time she lived, you would only get a few sentences:

  1. The daughter of Samuel and Perla Schwimmer.
  2. Sister of six.
  3. The wife of Joachim Thaler.
  4. Mother of five.

And yet, a closer look at her character reveals a life story of resilience and resourcefulness.

A farmer – she took care not only of the farm, but also of the garden at home, where she devoted herself to tending the vegetables, fruit and flowers.

A cook – well known throughout the area for her culinary talent.

An entrepreneur – she ran a general store with her mother.

An event planner she opened her home to people, where her children’s friends, who were also non-Jewish, often visited. She organised get-togethers and dances for them.A lover of literature – Mina Thaler and her mother spent time reading books in Polish, German and Yiddish.
