On 23 August we visited the bunkers in Kornatka together with special guests – descendants of the Jews who used to live in Dobczyce. Kornatka is a small village in Poland, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in the district of Myślenice, in the commune of Dobczyce.

During the Second World War, the Jewish inhabitants of Dobczyce went into hiding in dug-out shelters in the forests of Kornatka. The locals provided them with food at great risk. In these shelters, families would lie motionless for days so that no one would notice their presence. Sometimes at night they would emerge from their shelters and wait for the people of Kornatka to share what they had with them.
